Art Music Justice Tour

Well, we have officially begun the AMJ tour.  I'm out on the road with Sara Groves and company, along with Charlie Peacock, Brandon Heath, and Derek Webb.  Sara and her husband Troy have worked for many months to bring all the pieces and people together.  It is a full meal of a show, moving through songs, stories, visuals, and the spontaneous mingling of five diverse songwriters.

All these bits are glued together by reoccurring themes of beauty, hope and justice within our respective experiences.  On one hand, we each are very different artists.  But there is so much overlap of who we are because of a shared vision to usher in the "being made right" of all things.  This hope is spoken, sung, prayed, and silently pondered through this performance.

Even as this is a different venue for me, I am honored to be part of this larger story.  Once again, I find my own navel-gazing to be such an exhausting hobby, and it is a privilege to learn new ways that I, too need to be rescued. This is the posture of service.  It is like taking that first class of yoga and feeling awkward with the poses.  It is what we are made for, but we have gradually learned to slouch and curve inward, left to our own devices.

That said, the audience in Wheaton, IL the other night put a collective $3500 in buckets for International Justice Mission and sponsored 55 kids for Food For the Hungry.  There will be girls rescued from sex trafficing as a direct outcome of these generous gifts.  And there will be families given food on a regular basis who would have gone without this basic need.

If you have a chance to see one of these shows, I do hope you will join us.  If you're not someone who is totally comfortable in a church setting, please know you are welcome, too.  I hope you will find the common ground is good music and a worthy cause.

Sandra,
My friend Tammy and I, came to the AMJ tour last night in Orange City Iowa at Northwestern College. What an amazing group of people working for incredible causes.
Pulling the beauty out of tragidy is difficult to do, but lat night was a real time of renewal.
Thank you so much for being apart of that. I really enjoyed your sound and lyrics.
Hope to catch more of your shows at the years go by.
Blessings.

Thank you all so much for the wonderful time of worship you offered to our Lord and for the service you all are doing for Him by speaking out for global justice! I am a seminarian at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA, and found your concert at Gordon College(down the road) refreshing. May God continually bless you all as you seek Him, to be encouraged by each other, and to care for the widow and the orphan. grace
